About
In her artistic practice, Jen Dwyer employs the female gaze to offer an inclusive perspective that positions all individuals as subjects. Her unique approach informs the creation of surreal and whimsical ceramic sculptures and oil paintings that draw inspiration from a diverse range of artistic movements, including Rococo, Surrealism, Fauvism, Greek Mythology, and Popular Culture, all infused with a self-assured feminist ethos. Through her work, Dwyer challenges the socially constructed notions of identity prevalent in contemporary society, channeling the female gaze to shift the narrative away from the commodification of women's bodies that dominates advertising and art history. To offer a fresh perspective, one that highlights the female point of view and places agency in the hands of all individuals. Dwyer's artistic vision blurs the boundaries between the public and private, the subject and object, and the self and others, creating otherworldly artworks that inspire reflection and contemplation.
